Getting to NC, May 2013

Thank goodness for Lynne and Gordon! It would have been a much more chaotic move if they had not been there. Noel and I drove with Brighton and Evan (and a TON of stuff) in the van, and Lynne and Gordon drove with Greg (and a ton of stuff) in the Civic. It was a really smooth trip; Evan slept almost the entire time from Lexington to Raleigh while Brighton just watched DVDs and ate snacks. In the Civic, Greg kept saying that it was such a great day because he got to eat at Chic-fil-a and watch as many movies as he wanted. :) He's pretty easy to please.

At a gas stop. Fruit snacks and diet coke are perfectly acceptable trip snacks for a 2 year old, right?

The best baby in the entire world! Oh that sweet, little face!

We stayed a couple nights in Raleigh while we waited for our shipment to arrive and plus Lynne and Gordon were flying out of Raleigh. So we hit up the children's museum there. So much fun!!

Brighton was not about to put on a little woodland animal costume.

But he and Greg both LOVED the water and boats. They would have stayed there the entire day, racing their boats.

Playing hockey with Grandpa.

We also watched an IMAX movie about monarch butterfly migration, which was really cool. Then we had calzones at this yummy Italian restaurant near the museum. Then we had to take Lynne and Gordon to the airport, and we were on our own.

We stayed one more night in Raleigh, and Noel left early the next day and drove to Camp Lejeune to start checking in. We followed a few hours later. We stayed in a hotel in Jacksonville that night and got into our house the next day. We got our stuff on Friday, and Noel left for ODS on Saturday. The following 5 weeks are little bit of a blur to me. It was interesting, to say the least, to be on my own with a tiny baby, adjusting to having 3 kids, and being in a place where I didn't know a soul. (I know that sounds really dramatic, and there are moms who do it by themselves for longer stretches of time or all the time and that experience gave me a glimpse at what it's like for them). Luckily for me, people in the ward and neighborhood were very friendly and helpful. Teri Stringham came and unpacked the entire kitchen. Kimmy Remmington and Amy Webb brought us food. The Dransfields had us over for dinner and to play a bunch of times, and the sister missionaries came a couple of times to help unpack stuff. Lynne came for almost a week about half-way in, and that was great! She was super helpful, as always, and her visit helped break up the 5 weeks. It was a crazy summer!

Leaving Lexington

The day after Noel's graduation, we finished packing and cleaning and headed out. It was a hard day. A really hard day. Thinking about it even now, a year later, makes me sad. I loved our years in Lexington. I still miss something about Lexington almost everyday. Kentucky really gets in your blood. :) We made amazing friends. It was also a time of a lot learning in the Gospel and in the Church for me. I served in a presidency in each of the women's auxiliaries and learned a lot about serving from the ladies I got to serve with. The wards we were in were wonderful...so many people anxiously engaged in a good cause, so many examples of good parents and righteous living. I will always be thankful for Bishop Blodgett and for the atmosphere he created in the Tates Creek ward and for Bishop Langdorf and for his love and involvement with the youth. He was so good with them! I will always have a special place in my heart for Lexington, Kentucky!

About a week before we left, we had a dinner with friends at the Willbur's house. Good food, even better company! Then the husbands had a final Wii-cathalon into the wee hours of the morning (or should I say Wii hours of the morning :)).

Cute little friends (Ashley, Greg, and Emily). Maybe they'll meet again at BYU. :)

Some of the best women I know (Angela, Joy, and Emily). Oh, how I miss them!

Getting things packed up. The bed frames were already disassembled, so the boys just slept on their mattresses on the floor.

It's hard to keep entertained when all your toys are packed up.

Saying goodbye to our house. I get overly attached to things, so it was hard to leave the house that I brought all of my babies home to.

Brighton got into the travel snack bag a little early. :)

Noel's Dental School Graduation, May 5, 2013

Noel graduated from dental school!!!! Yahoo! I know he was so happy to be finished with school. He did such a good job of balancing studying and family while he was in school. I sure love this guy!

A horrible picture, but this is him getting hooded (if that's what you call it:)).

After:
Our family looks a lot different from when he started dental school. I had to include all of these pictures, even though they are so similar, because the boys are doing something cute or funny in each of them.

After almost 9 years of marriage, we are finally not students! Congrats to Dr. Dickens!

Evan's Blessing, May 2013

Evan was blessed on Sunday, May 5 after Stake Conference. Lynne and Gordon were in town for the blessing, for Noel's graduation, and to help us move. It was a wonderful blessing.

As you can tell from the picture, I was quite emotional.

Snuggling with Grandpa after church.

This was the best picture I could get of him in his blessing outfit that Lynne got him.

Evan as a New Born

Evan was a really sweet, sleepy baby when he was little. I loved cuddling with him after he ate and smelling his fuzzy head. :) He slept for such long stretches in the day, and would stay awake for hours when he woke up at night, even when he was older (3-4 months old). He was always very happy at night, so at least I didn't have a fussy baby at 2 am. And unlike his older brothers, he didn't spit up very much. Nice!

I got pretty swollen when I was pregnant with Evan. After he was born, the swelling in my right foot went away after a day or two, but the left foot took about a week. It was funny to look down at my uneven feet.

What a cute, squishy face!

Greg is such a caring big brother. He always wanted to hold and kiss Evan.

Brighton is a great big brother too. He just wasn't quite as enthusiastic about holding or touching the baby.

Coloring Easter eggs with Grandma while she visited and helped after Evan was born. We were really lucky to have so much help. It was a crazy, busy time for Noel with finishing school and Boards and getting ready to move and whatnot, so it was such a blessing to have so much help for so long. I didn't have all three by myself all day until Evan exactly one month old.
