2 Months...Yawzur!!

Amazingly enough the time has come to take Greg's 2 month pictures. However, by posting this I feel like one of the newly wed couples that take their picture daily.

Major differences since last month's picture are: (1) Able to sit up, (2) Smiles at the camera and not just Amber or me, (3) Spits up like all of his food was poisonous, and (4) He and hippo are friends and not enemies.

World's Best Birthday Card

Today was Amber's 25th birthday! What a great day to hit the quarter century mark. Every year I try to buy or create the funniest card Amber has ever seen. Last year's card consisted of an old man in a speedo with the quote "I guess that is where Sag Harbor got its name." Unfortunately Amber laughed so hard she nearly peed her pants and as such the bar was set pretty high this year. After a lot of deep thought and surveillance of Greg's movements I came up with the following card (see below).

If you peed your pants then I partially succeeded. Now the question is whether Amber will pee her pants as well. No matter what, I am so proud of myself and perhaps will even submit it to Hallmark. To all you other October 22nd birthdays...HAPPY BIRTHDAY and splendid Happy Halloween.

P.S. If you couldn't tell, that is me in the picture...aka Boogie Man and yes I did sign a model release form:)

Howdy Cowboy!

I promise...last post of the day. Noel's Aunt Karen and Uncle Joe live in Texas. So that Greg would fit in with any Texas babies, they sent him these little cowboy boot booties. Too cute!

Check out those thunder thighs! You gotta love a baby with chub rolls.

University of Michigan Trip

Noel had a dental school interview at the University of Michigan on Friday. Because I had a short week at school (yahoo for fall break on my first week back), Greg and I made the trip with him. It is only about a 5.5 hour drive to Ann Arbor. It was a nice drive, and Greg did great in his carseat for that long. He slept most of the way. Being new parents, we haven't quite figured out how to pack only the essentials, so the car was crammed with baby paraphernelia. It looked like we were homeless and living out of our car.

After Noel's interview, we went for a walk at Nichol's Arboretum on campus. It was really pretty. Greg didn't like all the sun in his eyes, so Noel fixed that.

I'll tell you something. I have become a wimp when it comes to the cold. I was cold pretty much the whole trip. Really it was nice, crisp fall weather in Ann Arbor, but I have become accustomed to the heat that we've had this fall in Kentucky. What am I going to do when it gets cold here? It will be even colder when we go out west for Christmas. I'll just have to wear 6 layers of clothes. :)

Greg's Blessing

Last weekend was Greg's blessing. What a great weekend! My parents and Noel's parents both arrived in Lexington late Friday night. Noel, Gordie, our friend Jon, and his brother-in-law hit the raquetball courts at 11:00 p.m. when Gordie's plane got in. While they played, I enjoyed watching some TLC (gotta love "What Not to Wear") and waited for my parents to arrive.

On Saturday, the boys went frisby golfing, while the girls took care of a fairly cranky Gregory. He has had this rash on his stomach for a while, and it was really bugging him this weekend. The medicine the doctor perscribed for him also gave him some wicked diaper rash. So the only time he was happy was when he was eating or when we laid him down on a blanket without doing up his diaper. Probably too much info...sorry. After Noel, Gordie, and Dad got back from frisby golfing, we went shopping. Lynne, Mom, and I went to the Talbot's outlet and to Gordman's. Then we met up with Noel's cousin Christy for dinner at Johnny Carino's. What a fun day! Thanks Mom and Lynne for the new shirts and pants that fit!

Then on Sunday was the blessing. Lynne made a blessing outfit for Greg. It is so cute! Noel did a nice job with the blessing. He said that Greg didn't like being held out in front of him, so he cried through most of the blessing. That's okay...lots of babies do that right? After Sacrament meeting, I went off to Primary and the grandmas took care of Greg. Let me tell you a little background information about our ward. We have had 22 babies born this year. There are about 70 kids in Primary and about 40 under the age of 3. So you can imagine the decibal level at church. I think Greg was a little overstimulated because he cried almost all of church (he did much better this week). Lynne was carrying him around with his blanket over him to shield his eyes from the light. She finally got him calmed down and to sleep. So she put him in his car seat. Not wanting to wake him, they kept his blanket underneath him. I thought it looked really funny. Sad that this is the only picture I took the whole weekend.

Lynne and Gordie left on Sunday afternoon, and my parents left early Wednesday morning. It was great to have them visiting! I love you guys. Thanks for coming and for the great weekend.

Back to School!

I went back to work this week, and I am exhausted! I was quite emotional leaving Greg, but I was so proud of myself for not crying while I was at school. The good thing about me going back to work is that Greg stays home with Noel; I don't have to drop him off at daycare. So he gets some quality dad time. Noel was so great this week. He got up with Greg every time each school night. Of course I still woke up when Greg woke up, but I immediately went back to sleep while Noel went out and fed him.

I have a great class. At least they are great so far.:) Last year I had a few students with some major behavioral issues. This year is not the case. I have a class full of kids you can't help but love. My long-term sub and my instructional assistant did a wonderful job with the kids. My class is into great routines and working hard. It's awesome!

What post about school would be complete without a little kid funny? My friend, Ashley, teaches a 1st/2nd split. She was taking her kids through the lunch line when one of her students asked the lunch lady at the computer, "Can I withdraw money from my account?" The lunch lady replied, "No. Besides you only have 40 cents." I love it! What kid thinks to ask for the money out of his lunch account like it is the bank?!?! Very clever. Sneaky, but clever.

Natural Bridge National Park

For the first time in about a month Amber and I decided to go somewhere. This week Keeneland opened and a lot of the locals had suggested going to see the horses. However, we decided that Greg wasn't quite ready for the large crowds so we packed up the car with baby stuff galore and headed to Red River Gorge. Unbeknownst to us, instead of being the expected 30 minutes away, we traveled for nearly an hour only to get slightly lost. But we made it and after a long "sip at the spicket" Greg was ready for the hike (see 1st picture below). Amber put me in charge of the Greg and she became the trip's pack-mule (the cutest pack mule:)).

We really enjoyed the time being outdoors and the chance to get out of the house. The weather has been really pleasant lately (mid 70s) and the shortness of breath from being out of shape felt great. With only ten pounds left to go to reach her pre-Greg form, Amber outpaced me the entire trip. I simply blamed it on a 15 pound instant weight gain:)

P-Diddy Dickens

On Friday I was on the UK campus for meetings and work and while I was gone Amber dressed Greg up in his Green Baby Gap sweatpants and sweatshirt outfit. When I returned home Amber showed me the pictures. At first I thought, "Wow, it is mini Eminem minus the blond hair, but nope...it was Greg doing his best P-Diddy impression.

One Month Old

Greg hit his 1 month old mark last Friday. The time sure does fly...at least during the day. Not so much at 3 a.m. :) We are really grateful to have this little guy in our family. He is just so cute! He can now smile at us, and not just gas smiles. He can also hold his head up when he is leaning against our shoulders or when he is laying on his stomach. He is also sleeping for longer stretches of time. I celebrated when he slept from 8:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday night. It was awesome. That would be perfect sleep times for me once I go back to school. He also goes back to sleep a lot quicker now after he eats at night. He used to stay up for 2 hours each time, but now goes right back to sleep. Yahoo! He is a really good baby!
Our friend, Marissa, takes a picture of her little girl next to a stuffed elephant each month. That way you have a reference for how much she has grown. I really liked that idea, so we decided to take Greg's one month pictures next to the hippo that Jane (my instructional assistant) gave him.
Greg is in touch with his Idaho roots in this outfit! :)
Ummm....help me! I'm falling over!
